  • About

After graduating from Art Center College of Design in 1990 with a BFA in Illustration,

Justin trained as a traditional matte artist for Walt Disney Studios

under Harrison Ellenshaw and Paul Lasaine.

In 1992, he was hired by Walt Disney Feature Animation as a

Background Painter/Visual Development Artist and worked

on classic Disney films such as "Aladdin", "Pocahontas",

"The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "Tarzan", and "Hercules".

In 2000, Justin returned to live action working as a Matte Painter at Illusion Arts

under Syd Dutton and Bill Taylor.  The amazing experience of learning

from these visual effects masters proved to be unique training

that blended the art of cinematic painting with live action imagery for film.

In 2005, Justin was hired as a Matte Painter for Dreamworks Animation.

He worked on films such as "Kung Fu Panda" and "The Croods".

He was promoted to Matte Painting Supervisor on the feature films

"Shrek the Final Chapter" and "Puss in Boots".

Justin's work has been published in "The Art of Walt Disney",

"The Tarzan Chronicles", "The Art of The Hunchback of Notre Dame",

    and "The Art of Pocahontas".

His illustration work has been published in several magazines
and video box covers for the gaming industry.
